Vivian Vande Velde

Vivian Vande Velde has published 40 books for young people, including 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel ÷ 1 Dog = Chaos (chosen for numerous one school/one book events), Never Trust a Dead Man (winner of the Mystery Writers' Edgar Award), Heir Apparent (Anne Spencer Lindbergh Prize). Her books range from one picture book to two books published for adults, as well as several themed short-story collections. Her works almost always include elements of fantasy (ghosts, talking animals, unconventional princesses, etc.), and often include humor. She denies her husband's claim that she has switched from "I'd be happy if I could only get one book published..." to "Why doesn't Steven Spielberg call me for a movie deal?"
